Fun blaster! It's not everyone's cup of tea but it is certainly mine. I love sillier gimmicky blasters and this one is just absolutely charming. The loading system takes time to get used to, but it felt more reliable to me over time for some reason (muscle memory techniques?? or something? idk)
I did have a couple of issues, though: the rubber blade was hard to remove until i realised it becomes way easier to remove if you remove the barrel first. I also had a problem where the O-ring on the pusher came off and it was very very difficult to get back on since the blaster is glued together, but i was eventually able to do it by rolling it back onto the pusher from a 3d printed cylinder i created for this purpose. I contacted outofdarts about these issues and they were unbelievably nice and offered genuinely generous support which i commend since you need the patience of a monk to work in customer service, let alone with this level of politeness. 10/10 will be shopping here again
I finally got mine today.
Straight up out the box I like it.
Operationally its really best to treat this like a plinker and keep it as horizontal as possible otherwise you will have failures to load or jams.
With either bayonet component, the tightness is unreal affixed to the blaster. i ended up having to use a boot blade to pry it off. If you try to pull it at the points of affixture you can separate the rubber form from the housing connecting to the blaster. Fit and finish on the blade is meh at best and that is not Out of Darts issue.
I find the thing is best with the heavy spring. Plink cans or nerf targets. It is hard to accurately aim at first but once you get the sight / angle of use experience it is not a problem. Sabre T darts work great for sure. Darts with it are good. Just make sure newer darts. if they are worn or older, then what happens is they will compress is loading hopper tube weak and that can cause loading issues.
Is it worth the price? No. Why? There is a lot of refinement and fit and finish points. Thankfully no jaggies but certain pins stick out and catch skin and clothing. A key, "you best pay attention big time point" is when you are changing the barrel. The ammo tube also comes off with it and at the top inside is a really small spring and pin. This controls the breach slider on top of the blaster. Don't lose either otherwise manual forever. Getting the pin back in and lining up that feeder spring right is testy and in an exercise in patience. Changing the priming spring at the back though is easy. Also. NO MANUAL is with the blaster. That should be standard even if your experienced enough hobbyist to not need it.
I absolutely love this thing!
I know it can jam sometimes, but even when it jams up I just enjoy playing with this thing! It shoots incredibly well, it's so much fun to prime the lever action! I just kept the 200 FPS spring in it because dang that satisfying! I find it incredibly accurate, and it's fun to shoot the thing like you're Sarah Connor from the hip! I have a homemade silencer that I put on the end of it so it's a little quieter, and I think if I wrapped the spring handle area and some foam and another section of it I could probably muffle it a lot more. There needs to be more quiet shooting Nerf guns because if you do cover this one up you can hear the darts whiz by instead of the sound of the gun firing.
The only concern I have is that it might be kicking off a weird sweet noxious plastic smell but I googled it and it said these are pretty safe... But it could also be the Green bamboo darts from another company in a separate order I got cuz those smelled real strong when I got them, but that was a month ago.. anyway something in my blaster lineup is smelling like plastic and the smell sticks in my nose for hours but it could just be another brain tumor. 🤷
Blade was orange rather than black as was pictured, but the blaster functions as expected. It does require a deliberate action when priming the heavier spring, but the blaster is unique and fun to use.
Love the overall design great lever action foam blaster. Only complaint is in the cycling, is just barely big enough so some of the darts get pinched when working the lever. But if you take it slow it will cycle fine.
