Survival Fest
Summary
Survival Fest is a weekend-long event organized late May in the Northeast United States. For the last two years, it has been hosted on different campuses in Pennsylvania. Survival Fest is a unique weekend, focusing all three days on HvZ and HvZ-related activities instead of splitting its time with other blaster tag games like the other large invitationals we feature.
Penn State hosted the last event in late May 2024, and it has the distinction of being the weekend with the most diverse and experienced mod team—over twenty moderators with over 100 years of shared HvZ experience between them.
Some features include…
Mission Zero
For those new to the game or Survival Fest’s HvZ rules, players are invited to a low-stakes single-mission tutorial game the day before. This helps resolve many misunderstandings and makes the next day run more smoothly.
More Super Zombies Earlier
Unlike UMBC’s method of limiting human loadouts, Survival Fest seeks to balance out the beginning game balance by focusing on buffing zombies early and often. Special zombies, like tanks, are extremely enhanced, and it only gets more challenging for the humans as the game progresses.
HvZ Skills Competitions
Far from just hosting multiple HvZ games, the weekend also includes related activities, including HammerShot duels, allowing people to showcase their in-game experience outside of the context of an HvZ game itself.
